“I’m a true believer that everything happens for a reason. Though you may not always understand why, I believe the most valuable lesson behind it is to make you stronger… Live in the moment, because that’s all there is… hang onto the good and let go of the rest.” - Unknown
I don't think life happens by chance or coincidence... it happens for a reason. We may not always know what that reason is, but maybe, like the quote says, it is to make us stronger, or wiser, or better.
I also believe in soulmates. Yes, plural. Along with my husband, some of my best friends are my soulmates, here to help me along this short journey we call life on Earth. I’m grateful for each one of those people in my life and wouldn't be who I am today without them.
Going on vacation with my best friends/soulmates this past weekend and experiencing the epic-ness only Stacey could articulate in her last post reminded me to live in the present. From the text messages about packing to pre-plane mimosas to adventures in multiple bodies of water to our parting goodbye’s at the airport, we constantly said we didn’t want it to end. Every single one of us lived in the moment the entire trip and we created memories I’ll never forget.
Every day I watch my son grow, I try to live in the moment and know that all of this is fleeting. If what you're doing now makes you happy, then keep doing it. Even when there’s a fork in the road, I think whatever choice we make is predestined so go ahead and pick your path. I hope it takes you on an adventure of a lifetime like every choice I’ve made so far has.
As Buddha said, “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” This is added to my list of life long goals that I will always be striving to achieve whether I’m on (quite literally) an epic, unforgettable trip or just going about my day-to-day routine.
