I've said this before and I will say it again, my girlfriends that I've made out here since moving to California are my family. Each of them are incredible and show me time after time how lucky I am to have them in my life.
One girl in particular stands out to me this week, my friend Misty. I've known Misty for about 5 years and I lived with her in Hollywood for a while when I first moved out to the west coast. Misty and I hit it off instantly, so much so that I think she had to kick me out of her apartment when I first came over for an awkward "roommate interview" and hung out on her couch a bit too long just chatting. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of meeting Misty's family, spending holidays with her in her hometown, gone on some crazy adventures and experienced many of life's ups and downs together. She's an incredible person and I admire her in so many ways.
Recently, Misty proved once again how true of a friend she is. As we were planning a trip out of town together, she found out that she was suddenly not able to make it (more of the story 'why' to come!). As I was sad and disappointed, I knew we had to figure it all out. Misty went above and beyond to help me make things work for me and I never could have asked her to do anything more when handling this situation. Because best friends are people who make your problems, their problems, just so you don't have to go through them alone, right?
Misty could have easily informed me that she wasn't able to go on the trip any longer and that would have been that. What could I have done? But she didn't. Her absolute generosity and care for making sure all was handled and that I still had a great trip to look forward to leaves my speechless.
Thank you Misty for being the incredible human being that you are. Will miss you this week but I love you dearly.
