Celebrating Memorial Day this weekend I'm reminded me how grateful I am for those who served for our freedom, those who gave their lives so that we can live ours in peace. Well, this weekend was one of those that I could not have been more grateful for. I spent the weekend in central Pennsylvania with family celebrating my nephew's first birthday. Wow, I can't believe he's already one. It feels like yesterday I was journaling of my first trip out to meet my nephew and now I find myself back for his first birthday party.
My sister lives in a small town in central Pennsylvania and when I say small, I mean small. My dad and I jog the town in the mornings and we'll run about 5 laps around the neighborhood in 20 minutes. My point is, it's very different from Los Angeles but that is exactly the beauty of it. It's a darling town, so quiet and feels like home for me. This trip was a special trip and I enjoyed every minute.
My nephew Connor is everything that love means to me. He reminds me how special life is through a child's eyes and his giggle makes me smile from my heart. One of the coolest things about being an aunt has been seeing my sister as a mother. I continue to obsess over her more and more each day and I value our time we spend together. She's everything I want to be and her son is growing into such a beautiful young boy inside and out thanks to my sister and brother in law, Nick.
So I want to thank all of the men and women that have given their lives for our country, allowing all of us to live in freedom and enjoy these special moments with family. Thank you for serving. And thank you for honoring our beautiful country. Without each of you, these moments would not be possible.
